On Friday 25 September, the European Night of Researchers “SuperScienceMe: Research is your North STAR”, the event that combines research and entertainment, promoting dialogue between science and society, returns to UniCal for the thirteenth consecutive year. The great scientific dissemination event is co-financed by the Calabria Region and sponsored by Crui. The project sees UniCal in the role of leader, supported by the Magna Graecia University, the Mediterranean University, the University of Basilicata and the CNR.

Creating meeting opportunities between researchers and citizens to spread scientific culture is one of the main objectives of the Night, which this year too is preparing to welcome not only thousands of students from schools of all levels in Calabria, but also families, enthusiasts and the entire civil society.

Starting from 8:30 open laboratories, experiments and scientific demonstrations along the Pietro Bucci Bridge and in the laboratories. All animated by friendly street artists. At 10:00, in Piazza Rettorato (at the height of cube 25B), the official ceremony will be held with which the rector Gianluigi Greco will inaugurate the 2026 edition of the Night, in the presence of the councilor for Education, Sport and Youth Policies of the Calabria Region, Eulalia Micheli. Throughout the day, in addition to visits to the laboratories, it will be possible to explore the spaces dedicated to European and regional projects, innovation, gender and educational policies.

And again, many initiatives for the “Children’s University” section: in addition to the activities of the AIRC Foundation with interactive games on DNA, it will be possible to admire the exhibition “Night among the Italian dinosaurs in the flesh” near cubes 12B–15B, and participate in the “A bridge to the Sun!” initiative, led by the Department of Physics and the spin-off Missione al Cubo to observe sunspots and plasma eruptions using special telescopes.

All visits and activities can be consulted and booked on the superscienceme.it website. The event will end on a high note with Carl Brave’s free concert: appointment at 9.30pm in the Piazza Vermicelli Amphitheater (in front of the UniCal Auditorium Theatre).
