The Italian wakeboard national team was received this morning at Palazzo d’Orléans by the president of the Sicilian Region, Renato Schifani. The team will be involved, for the first time on the island, in the European championships scheduled from 30 October to 4 November in the body of water of Lake Poma in Partinico. The coaches will accompany the national team Pierluigi Mazzia, Enzo Molinari, Claudio Dal Lago and Manfredi Napoli. Also present were the regional councilor for Productive Activities, Edy Tamajothe mayor and president of the municipal council of Partinico, Pietro Rao and Erasmo Briganò.

“The sport – said President Schifani – it is an element of life that helps you grow well because it educates the body and mind, as well as having a high social value. For this reason, the regional government wanted to finance the so-called “gym bonus” for the second consecutive year. I hope that Sicily can represent, this time too, an excellent launching pad and I wish you the best successes”.

«As a sportsman and lover of numerous disciplines – added councilor Tamajo –, I am happy that this event is being held in Partinico, generating interesting consequences from an economic point of view for commercial activities. Sporting events create not only visitor flows and revenue, but also interest in the places where they take place. We are available to verify, together with the Italian Federation, whether the conditions exist to create a federal center here in Sicily”.
