A traffic dispute. It broke out for trivial reasons between three workers who were working in the Serra Spiga neighborhood and the occupants of a car passing through the area.
Traffic had been temporarily blocked to allow the asphalting work in which the three were engaged to be carried out: the two people on board the vehicle, however, intended to pass through the blocked connection road. An argument arose which led to the unexpected violent reaction of the driver of the small car and his friend who sat next to him. The couple, in fact, left for a few minutes and then returned to the scene armed with a bat and a gun. The situation therefore worsened: amidst insults and threats, one of the three workers was hit with a blunt weapon and the other, who intervened to defend him, was injured with a gunshot to the right leg. The attackers, after the shot and the wounded man’s screams of pain, rushed away, losing track of them.
The worker injured in the lower limb, Rodolfo Runco, 35 years old, was transported by his workmates to the emergency room of the Annunziata hospital. The doctors immediately subjected him to routine tests and transferred him to the surgery department. The 35-year-old’s condition is not serious and his life is not in danger. The other colleague hit with the bat has undergone tests and has bruises in various parts of his body. Once the alarm was raised, the police from the city company intervened on site. Both the victims of the brutal attack and some witnesses were questioned. The chief prosecutor, Vincenzo Capomolla, was immediately informed and ordered a series of checks and investigations. During the night, searches were carried out in the homes of suspects and criminals. Checkpoints have been set up on the main roads connecting the urban area. Those responsible for the criminal action may have already been identified.
