Fire of presumed arson origin occurred during the night between Friday and Saturday. The flames engulfed a large pile of wood already cut and accumulated by a local forestry company in order to obtain pellets. After the alert call to 112 by some citizens living in the fire area who were woken up by the crackling of the flames, the Rende firefighters arrived on site and had to work for several hours of the night, in the Quartarone area of the small village of Arbëreshe origins, near the crossroads on the provincial road 270 which connects the town with Fagnano Castello. It took them some time to get to the bottom of the flames that spread from the fire to the wood that was stored not far from some homes whose residents, fortunately, got a bad scare. No other damages were reported, other than the economic damage suffered by the company to be quantified. Yesterday morning, once notified of the incendiary event, there was also a necessary inspection by the Carabinieri of the Fagnano station. On the alleged matrix, the report of the Fire Brigade will be especially important for the ongoing investigations by the soldiers of the Company of San Marco Argentano, who at the moment do not exclude any hypothesis.
