Moments of apprehension this morning on the A20 Messina – Palermo motorway, due to a small car that caught fire inside the Calavà tunnel, towards Palermo, just before the Brolo junction.
Fortunately, the two occupants of the vehicle, husband and wife, were unharmed and managed to save themselves before the car was completely devoured by flames. The traffic police from the Sant’Agata Militello detachment are on site together with a patrol from the Messina section. A lot of smoke was released in the tunnel but there were no consequences for the vehicles arriving which were evacuated safely. Highway emergency teams are also on site.
