The municipality of Cassano allo Ionio has ordered the clearance and evacuation of all homes within the Sibari Lakes nautical complex. The decision was taken as a precaution, Mayor Gianpaolo Iacobini announced in a video, at the end of a meeting of the municipal civil protection operations center and in light of the inspections and checks carried out throughout the morning by the regional and municipal civil protection. «Within a few minutes – the mayor announced – the clearing and evacuation of all homes within the Laghi di Sibari nautical center will be ordered.
A fracture of over 50 meters along the left bank of the Crati river
A measure made indispensable by the discovery of a fracture of over 50 meters along the left bank of the Crati river, whose waters flow directly into the Sibari lakes for this very reason. Naturally this act will be accompanied by other measures such as the execution of extremely urgent works to try to repair this wound that has opened along the watercourse as quickly as possible.” «I ask everyone – concludes the mayor – for maximum collaboration. Webuild made men and vehicles available and opened the canteen at its base camp
Meanwhile, Webuild, engaged in works on state road 106 in the area of the Crati flood, in response to the emergency, intervened to serve the local community by making available mechanical means and workers already at work in the area, for the restoration of the river banks. The company also opened the doors of the canteen at its Villapiana base camp to guarantee hospitality and hot meals to people who were forced to evacuate their homes.
