G20, Meloni–Erdogan meeting: focus on NATO, Ukraine and the Middle East

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni had a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G20 work in South Africa with the President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan. This was reported in a note from Palazzo Chigi, explaining that “the two leaders underlined the importance of cooperation between Italy and Türkiye within NATO”. «The meeting – we read in the press release – continued with an in-depth exchange on the ongoing international crises with particular reference to the war in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East. The two leaders also shared the hope of continuing to strengthen bilateral relations in a very positive framework of continuous economic growth also in strategic sectors”.
