Enhance the resources of our land through flavors and traditions. At the Botricello headquarters of the “Rita Levi Montalcini” Institute of Higher Education, the curtain was raised on the second edition of the Gourmet Festival, dedicated to food and wine culture and the culinary heritage of our territory. The theme chosen for this year is: “The wheat. History of the creativity of a people”, a tribute to one of the food symbol of the Mediterranean tradition and peasant civilization. The event has started today and will last until May 30th. These are four intense days of events, meetings and demonstrations that will involve students, chefs, professionals in the sector and local production companies. Today the inaugural conference of presentation of the event took place with institutional guests, experts in the sector and representatives of the world of school and agri -food. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several institutional representatives and the world of school, including the school manager of the “Montalcini” Institute, Giovanna Moscato which hosts the event; The mayors of Botricello and Satale, Simone Puccio and Carmine Capellupo.
The “Montalcini” Institute enthusiastically welcomed the second edition of the Festival which saw the commitment of teachers, school staff and the students who have been preparing for weeks to host in the best possible way an event that combines tradition and creativity by offering young people also valid ideas for their professional future. Tomorrow the food and wine competition reserved for hotel institutions will be held, created in collaboration with the Cooks Association of the Province of Catanzaro, to enhance the skills of the students and the creativity in the reinterpretation of wheat. On May 29 there will be a show cooking by the Pittagoric Cooks Regional Association, during which professional chefs will stage dishes inspired by tradition and innovation. While on Friday, May 30, the storytelling of the territory: companies, associations and local producers will be told through direct experiences, exhibitions and food and wine and craft stands, creating a dialogue between culture, economy and identity. The Gourmet Festival represents a unique opportunity to rediscover and celebrate the wealth of our territory through food, training and sharing.
