The Secretary General of the UN Antonio Guterres makes an appeal to “silence the weapons” in Gaza, “to honor the spirit of Ramadan”. «Today marks the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan, a period in which Muslims around the world celebrate and propagate the values of peace, reconciliation and solidarity. But despite the start of Ramadan, the deaths, bombings and carnage continue in Gaza”, deplored Guterres while calling for the release of the hostages.

On the first day of Ramadan, Egypt intensified aid drops on the northern Gaza Strip. This was decided by the Egyptian president, Abdel Fattah al-Sissi, as reported on Facebook by the government's military spokesperson. The Egyptian Air Force, in collaboration with the United Arab Emirates, has intensified its takeoffs from Al-Arish airport with tons of food and medical supplies. Aid by air is also being ensured, in recent days, by the international coalition based in Jordan.
