Dissenting is not allowed in Cateno De Luca’s political groups. And anyone who tries to do so is out of the question. The Naxos-Taormina project for the 2026 administrative elections has already seen an excellent farewell, that of the city coordinator of “South calls North” Pietro Giannetto, a supporter of De Luca for 15 years.
“He wanted to be a Trojan horse and bringer of discord – the exit of the mayor of Taormina after a political summit on Thursday evening – but with me he falls really badly.” And yesterday Giannetto, who was on the list of the first 22 aspiring city councilors, had his say after weeks of uneasiness: «With great suffering I decided to resign as city coordinator and to leave the political movement – he began – a choice that arises from personal conviction and a deep bond with my community.
