The Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria announces the now traditional appointment of the New Year’s Grand Concert, an extraordinary event included in the framework of “Reggio Città Natale”, the calendar of initiatives that are enlivening the Christmas holidays in Reggio Calabria in recent weeks. The event, promoted by the Palazzo Alvaro Authority led by the mayor Giuseppe Falcomatà, to welcome the start of the new year is set for Thursday 1 January 2026 at the prestigious “Francesco Cilea” Municipal Theatre.
To allow the widest participation of citizens, the event this year will be divided into a double show: the first at 6 pm, the second at 9 pm, both naturally in the splendid setting of the Francesco Cilea Theatre.
The cast
The protagonist of the evening will be the “F. Cilea” Theater Orchestra, under the expert direction of Maestro Alessandro Tirotta. The concert will see the participation of a cast of exceptional soloists: the soprano Gaia Cerri, winner of the Cilea Opera Festival opera competition, the mezzo-soprano Chiara Tirotta, the tenor Ivan Defabiani and the baritone Raffaele Facciolà. To enrich the scene, the performances of the dance troupe with choreographies curated by Gabriella Cutrupi.
The musical program promises an exciting journey through the most famous pages of classical and operatic music, with pieces by Strauss, Tchaikovsky, Rossini, Donizetti, Leoncavallo and Puccini, for a start to the year marked by great culture and tradition.

Access to the two shows is free upon reservation. To attend the concert it will be necessary to collect free tickets (maximum two per person) at the Cilea Theater box office on the following dates: Tuesday 30 December: from 11am to 1pm; Wednesday 31 December (for any remaining availability): from 11am to 1pm.
