At least four migrants died today when the boat they were on sank in the Aegean Sea: the Greek Coast Guard announced this, adding that their bodies were recovered near the island of Samos, where another similar accident occurred on Monday. Another 16 people were rescued and the search for possible survivors is underway. At least nine asylum seekers had died on Monday, including six minors and two women, in two separate incidents near Samos and Lesvos. According to the Immigration Ministry, Greece has seen a 25% increase in the number of people fleeing war and poverty this year, with a 30% increase towards Rhodes and the southeast Aegean alone.
