After the 450 thousand of the three-year period 2023-2025, the Meloni government authorizes the entry into Italy of another 500 thousand foreign workers from 2026 to 2028.
These are the numbers of the new flow decree approved yesterday by the Council of Ministers. It is, informs Palazzo Chigi, of “indispensable labor to the national economic and productive system and otherwise not available”.
Over the three -year period, 230,550 shares for non -seasonal and autonomous subordinate work and 267 thousand for seasonal work in the agricultural and tourist sectors are assigned. The quantities are established, it is underlined, “taking into account the needs expressed by the social partners and the applications of clearance to work actually presented in recent years, with the aim of a programming that implies the needs of companies and that it is also realistic”.
For the government, moreover, “with the stable identification of a legal and controlled immigration mechanism, fundamental communication channels are activated in the dialogue with the countries of origin of the migratory flows and a tool is built for the contrast to phenomena of irregularities in the entry and permanence in our country, in the fight against the submerged work and the exploitation of workers”. Then there is the desire to overcome the mechanism of the ‘Click Day’, encouraging the out of altitude entrances with “a gradual path, which first of all concerns the most sought after professional profiles by employers and who enhance the training of workers in the countries of origin”. Coldiretti satisfied, according to which the decree “represents an important step forward to guarantee the availability of workers in the fields and, with it, food production in the country”.
The Association then hopes “the definitive overcoming of the click day, allowing companies to submit requests throughout the year, with the support of agricultural associations and based on real seasonal needs”. Instead, the secretary of most Europe Riccardo Magi critic. The measure, he claims, “risks being useless if a figurative increase is written in the decree but which is not converted into actual employment contracts and residence permits as happened in these years”.
The campaign data I was a foreigner, in fact, indicate that in 2024 only 7.8% of the shares established by the government was transformed into residence permits and stable and regular jobs: there were 9,331 applications for the entry of workers and workers aimed at the Italian prefectures out of a total of 119,890 shares assigned during the year. Meanwhile, there is the position of the first president of the Court of Cassation Margherita Cassano after the attacks of the majority and the Guardasigilli Carlo Nordio followed by the report of the Maximary who criticized the Security Decree.
“The criticisms on the merits are legitimate – says Cassano interviewed by Corriere della Sera – we would miss. Before accusing we should know the complex of the activities that institutionally belong to the Court of Cassation. There is no invasion of the field. We deeply respect politics, parliament and the government, but we hope that equally respect is nourished towards the judiciary”.
