The official handover ceremony between the outgoing rector Nicola Leone and the magnificent new rector Gianluigi Greco took place yesterday afternoon in the great hall of the Unical “Beniamino Andreatta”. A solemn event, accompanied by the performance of the Mameli Hymn by the “Stanislao Giacomantonio” Conservatory of Cosenza and the UNIvocalis choir, which brought together teachers, students and representatives of the institutions. The ceremony was opened by Prof. Franco Altimari, dean of the University’s teachers, who recalled the symbolic value of the academic rite: «It marks an important moment in the life of the university and the communities that compose it. The rites, with their symbolic and cultural strength, remind us of the continuity of the institutions, which, like universities, have represented a haven of knowledge and civilization for centuries.”
