A 60-year-old man from Ventimiglia, Giuliano Roberto Mascheroni, died of a cerebral hemorrhage resulting from the injuries sustained on the evening of October 26th when he was attacked by a 46-year-old man. The attacker, originally from Cosenza, also lives in Ventimiglia and has a criminal record.
The beating is confirmed not only by the cameras in the area, but also by the testimony of a businesswoman who witnessed the events. According to initial investigations, the sixty-year-old was approached by the attacker while he was talking to a woman on the street, who turned out to be the ex-partner of the man who beat him. The fight was recorded in the videos acquired by the investigators: the man was punched and also kicked in the head. However, the elderly man got up and went to the police to file a complaint. In the barracks he felt ill and was taken to hospital in Bordighera where the doctors, considering his serious condition, decided to transfer him to the more specialized Santa Corona hospital in Pietra Ligure, where he died today.
The alleged attacker was arrested the same evening on charges of very serious injuries and the Imperia investigating judge subsequently validated the arrest. Now, however, his position has worsened further. The investigations are coordinated by the deputy prosecutor Veronica Meglio, who will carry out the autopsy in the next few hours.
