In recent days, the Reggio State Police arrested a 44-year-old man, domiciled in Vibo Valentia.

The man, who was driving a lorry registered in Italy, was stopped near the “Rosarno Est” service area, in the direction of Salerno.

To the two patrols of the Palmi Traffic Police Subsection and the Reggio Calabria Nord Subsection, engaged in a specific heavy traffic control service, the driver, of Italian nationality, showed a driving license and an identity card valid for travel abroad, both issued by the Czech Republic.

In a short time, the investigations carried out at the local Civil Motorization Office and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Rome made it possible to ascertain that in reality the identification numbers of the documents presented were registered to a different person.

The manufacture, possession and use of a false document valid for expatriation, being suitable to guarantee the personal identity of the owner, can constitute a tool for perpetrating fraud and abuse, as well as even more serious crimes, provides for the possibility of applying the measure of arrest in flagrante delicto, which has in fact happened.

The Palmi prosecutor, promptly informed, ordered house arrest and, subsequently in the direct trial, the arrest was validated, requiring the man to be required to sign.
