Health cuts for 10 million in the Vibo Valentia area: only 14 (out of 50) show up at the Mayors’ Conference

It was supposed to be a Conference rich in content and heated debates on a burning issue such as health, but instead it turned into almost two hours of calm and constructive debate carried out by a handful of administrators, fourteen in all, who chose to honor the role that the voters entrusted to them, giving up the coolness of the woods or the sea breeze under the beach umbrella. PFor as many as 36 of the 50 mayors who are part of the Conference, the invitation to boycott the proceedingsstarted by the regional councilor Michael Comitohas prevailed over the interests of citizens who, incidentally, being daily faced with the blatant disregard for their right to health, really do not know what to do with formalities. It is no coincidence that in the City Council chamber, following the proceedings there are the relatives of patients hospitalized at the “Don Mottola” in Drapia and who are denied the right to free treatment by the ASP. When the mayor Enzo Romeo, designated president of the Conference, calls the roll call, there are only fourteen to respond (Ricadi, Stefanaconi, Monterosso, Polia, Arena, Francavilla, Rombiolo, Vallelonga, Zaccanopoli, San Nicola da Crissa, Brognaturo, Ionadi, Vibo Valentia). There is also the mayor Alexander Porcelli (Drapia) who, while not agreeing with the methods of convening the Conference, chooses to be present to protect the interests of the administered territory. There is no trace, however, of the commissioner of the Asp Antonio Battistini, who many were waiting for, and of several mayors of the Serre and the Tyrrhenian coast. In this case, to represent all the coastal centers of Vibo Valentia there is only the mayor of Ricadi, Nicola Tripodi. Furthermore, absent, in addition to the mayors of Nicotera, Pizzo and Tropea, also those of Serra and Soriano, all administrators who, in terms of health, would have much to ask and much to protect.
