From operating rooms to libraries the step was not short. Professor Ciro Indolfi, a luminary of Italian cardiology of Neapolitan origins but now Calabrian by adoption, seems to have taken a liking to it. And so, after the debut with the volume Batticuore, comes the encore with Longevity. The (declared) objective is to make the latest scientific knowledge available to everyone to live better and longer.
Professor Indolfi, so is it really possible to slow down aging? How can we influence, with our choices and habits, to live longer?
«First of all, longevity is not simply synonymous with “long life”. Indicates the ability to live beyond average, while maintaining good physical and mental health conditions. Today it is possible to slow down aging. Science has made it clear that genetics contributes only 20–25% to lifespan. The rest depends on lifestyle. The “supercentenarians” and the inhabitants of the so-called “Blue Zones” share similar daily behaviors, today considered the true pillars of longevity”.
