The consolidation of the Nasidi district in Librizzi, in the Messina area, is underway. The Structure for the fight against hydrogeological instability, which reports to the president of the Sicilian Region Renato Schifani, has awarded the works for the stabilization of the soil and for the canalization of rainwater to safeguard an area that presents multiple critical issues. The offices directed by Sergio Tumminello have announced the final ranking. The intervention will be carried out by a group of companies coordinated by Alfano Srl of Cianciana in the province of Agrigento, for an amount of 1.5 million euros and by virtue of a reduction of 27.2 percent. The area has the highest risk classification “R4”.
The objective of the work, which completes an initial intervention already carried out in the past, is to restore the full and safe usability of the entire slope, from the upper part of the town in the western area, up to the church of the Madonna del Tindari, where the greatest number of landslides were recorded. The solutions identified by the designers consist of the demolition of a heavily damaged section of retaining wall and its reconstruction with a direct surface foundation, for a total length of thirty metres. Furthermore, the construction of a section of reinforced concrete pile bulkhead in the Via Fraiale area is planned. As regards traffic, we will proceed with the functional restoration of a municipal road, in the city center, downstream from the public housing. This is a strategic connection, heavily damaged by land subsidence in recent years. The hydraulic regulation works will consist of the replacement and adaptation of the rainwater collection pipeline with the placement of three continuous reinforced concrete road drains and a new pipeline.
