An escalation of brutal, systematic and unrestrained violence, carried out within the home and in extramarital relationships, was stopped by the intervention of the Carabinieri of the San Ferdinando station, who carried out a precautionary custody order in prison, issued by the GIP of the Court of Palmi at the request of the Public Prosecutor’s Office directed by Emanuele Crescenti, against a local man, seriously suspected of aggravated and continuous domestic abuse.
A man who, according to what was reconstructed by the military, would have transformed his daily life into a nightmare for two women: his wife, forced to suffer violence even in front of their four minor children, and his extramarital partner, also a victim of attacks, threats and humiliation. Two different relationships, united by a single common thread: oppression.
The complaint was never filed
The investigation – particularly complex and delicate – did not arise from a complaint, never presented due to the fear and total awe of the victims, but from the investigative intuition of the Carabinieri. The alarm bell was triggered by repeated suspicious visits to the emergency rooms of the hospitals of Gioia Tauro and Polistena by minor children: injuries and traumas dismissed as banal domestic or road accidents, never found in the operational systems of the police forces.
An anomaly too obvious to ignore. From there, the immediate launch of a complex investigative activity, supported by environmental and telephone interceptions, which pierced the veil on a reality made up of beatings, threats and terror.
With a pillow over her face to smother her in her sleep
The images that emerge from the investigative findings are dramatic. The wife was allegedly repeatedly beaten, even hit with a cast arm, pulled, dragged and slammed against the walls, often under the eyes of her children, who were themselves terrified and threatened. In an episode of unprecedented violence, the man attempted to suffocate her in her sleep by pressing a pillow on her face, while the attacks were accompanied by insults and death threats, to the point of evoking – in confidences to family members – the desire to “fillet” her, an expression that recalls extremely serious scenarios.
Fury also against the lover
But the fury didn’t stop there. The same violence also fell on his extramarital partner, who was subjected to obsessive control and repeated physical attacks, one of which reportedly caused her to break her lip, with the imposition of not seeking medical treatment. For her too, a daily life full of insults, harassment and threats.
A marked criminal depth
A double front of violence that highlights a personality capable of exercising the same brutality in every relational context, fueled – according to the investigators – by a marked criminal depth, such as to generate a climate of fear and absolute silence around the victims.
