“Now Reggio Calabria. Inevitable visit to the Riace Bronzes. Thanks to the city for the great affection that welcomed me and that I replace. Long meeting with the public here at the museum. A hug to all of you”. With a post on social media, Carlo Verdone communicates to his audience that he is in Reggio showing himself with a selfie in front of one of the Riace Bronzes.
But why is the famous Roman actor in Reggio Calabria?
In the suggestive setting of the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria, the actor, director and screenwriter will receive a special career prize, in an event that recognizes its talent, culture and continuous commitment in promoting the dialogue between visual arts and historical heritage.
The evening takes place at the Orsi Piazza del Museo, in the presence of authorities, institutional representatives and the public. To introduce the meeting will be the artistic directors Gianlorenzo Franzì (Liff) and Michele Geria (Reggio Filmfest), followed by the interventions of the director of the museum, Fabrizio Sudano, and of the mayors of Reggio Calabria and Lamezia Terme.
Dialogue with Verdone
The heart of the event, “in Reggio with dad”, will be the dialogue between Carlo Verdone and Gianlorenzo Franzì, a precious opportunity to retrace the most significant moments of the artist’s career: from cinematic successes to personal memories, from autorative inspirations to reflection on the future of the audiovisual story.
Delivery of the prize
The evening will end with the intervention of the president of Calabria Film Commission, Anton Giulio Grande, and with the official delivery of the career prize to Carlo Verdone, by the Anassilaos Cultural Association of Reggio Calabria.
A tribute to Italian cinema
An unmissable event that sees two of the most important festivals on the national scene united in the sign of the promotion of Italian cinema and its masters. All in one of the symbolic places of the Mediterranean culture, where art, history and vision meet.
