Third to last day of the 81st Venice Film Festival. Under a sky that threatens rain (there is a red alert for bad weather throughout the region) Today the fifth and final Italian film in Competition arrives at the Lido. It is ‘Iddu’ by Fabio Grassadonia and Antonio Piazza with Toni Servillo and Elio Germanoa film born from reading the numerous notes found during the long period of fugitiveism of mafia boss Matteo Messina Denaro.

It will be preceded by ‘M – Son of the Century’, a film Out of Competition by Joe Wright with Luca Marinelli. A modern and scathing portrait of Mussolini and his political rise, from the foundation of the Fasci di Combattimento to the imposition of the most ferocious dictatorship that Italy has ever known.
