Industrial production falls in Italy in July: -0.9% on a monthly basis

Industrial production down in Italy. After two months of cyclical growth, the index recorded, in July, a decrease of 0.9% on a monthly basis. On average in the period May-July, the drop in the level of production is -0.4% compared to the previous three months. This was reported by Istat, explaining that the decline is widespread in the main sectors, with the exception of energy. In trend terms, the general index is down by 3.3%. Energy is an exception. Intermediate goods are down and, to a greater extent, capital goods and consumer goods. The sectors of economic activity that are recording the greatest increases are the manufacture of chemical products, the food, beverage and tobacco industries and the supply of electricity, gas, steam and air. Larger declines are recorded in the textile, clothing, leather and accessories industries.
