In recent years, INPS has consolidated its role in combating work fragilities and social marginalization with a significant commitment to the inclusion and support of the most vulnerable people. Thanks to targeted services, the institute has in fact provided support to over 3 million workers, guaranteeing income supplement interventions for the unemployed and salary supplement benefits for those who have suffered company suspensions.
The activation for social inclusion then involves the protection of people who are in fragile conditions and who, thanks to over 4 million welfare and civil disability benefits, receive important help which from the perspective of generative welfare will always be more personalized. These are some of the numbers that describe the role of the INPS in social welfare and social security policies, at the center of the ‘Inclusion Objective’ conference which was held at the Catholic University starting from the institute’s latest annual report. The protection of the most vulnerable people also extends to the elderly population and families in poverty.
In the first half of 2024, 695 thousand families benefited from the inclusion allowance, supporting 1.67 million individuals. Furthermore, INPS has provided the single and universal allowance to 10 million children belonging to 6.2 million families, thus contributing to promoting parenthood and facilitating greater participation of women in the labor market. The institute supports working parents through various benefits such as compulsory maternity leave; compulsory paternity leave, the nursery bonus.
