Internò, the lawyer of the Bergamini family, condemns: “The punishment doesn’t matter, what matters is having established the murder”

«We are satisfied because Denis finally got justice». This was stated by the lawyer Fabio Anselmo who represented the family of Denis Bergamini in the trial over the death of the Cosenza Calcio footballer. In the evening the Court of Assizes of Cosenza sentenced Isabella Internò, Denis’ ex-girlfriend accused in the trial, to 16 years in prison. The woman faces charges of complicity in voluntary homicide. «We believe – added the lawyer Anselmo – that if today’s Prosecutor’s Office had been that of the time, Denis would not have had to wait 35 years before getting justice. I thank Donata (Bergamini’s sister, ed.) for having trusted me and my colleagues at the firm, the lawyers Alessandra Pisa and Silvia Galeone.” The Prosecutor’s Office had asked for Isabella Internò to be sentenced to 23 years in prison. On this point, the lawyer Anselmo clarified: «We do not comment on the sentence. We are interested in the fact that the judges recognized that Denis was killed and that the Prosecutor’s Office intended to evaluate the position of other people”
