Iranian authorities prevented the 22-year-old’s parents and brother from leaving for Paris to collect the Sakharov Prize Mahsa Amini, the young Kurdish-Iranian who died last year while in the custody of the morality police for having worn the veil incorrectly. The award was awarded posthumously to the young victim. The family’s lawyer in France told AFP. “The family members were banned from boarding the flight that would have taken them to France despite having visas,” he said Chirinne Ardakani. “Their passports were confiscated,” he added.
