Yemeni rebels have made an initial assessment of yesterday’s Israeli raids on the port city of Hodeida. According to the agency linked to the Houthis, there were 6 dead and at least 87 wounded. During the night, however, the Israeli army intercepted a missile launched from Yemen and headed towards the Jewish state in the Red Sea. The missile, the IDF explained, did not reach Israel.
The military spokesman for the Iran-backed Yemeni Houthi group, however, said that numerous ballistic missiles were launched towards Eilatin Israel, and that A joint naval, air and missile operation hit the US vessel Pumba in the Red Sea. The Houthi-owned Al Masirah TV reported. According to its spokesman, Yahya Saree, both attacks were “successful.” He added that the Houthis will continue to attack Israel as long as the “aggression” against the Palestinian people continues. Saree then announced “important statements in the coming hours.”
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said in a statement released by his office that he was “deeply concerned by reports of air strikes in and around the port of Hudaydah in Yemen”, claimed by Israel in response to previous Houthi attacks against Tel Aviv.
“Initial reports indicate that there were a number of fatalities and over 80 people injured in this attack, and that there was considerable damage to civilian infrastructure. The Secretary-General calls on all concerned to avoid attacks that could harm civilians and damage civilian infrastructure,” the statement added.
“The Secretary-General remains deeply concerned about the risk of further escalation in the region and continues to urge everyone to exercise utmost restraint.
