Moscow hopes that a new round of trilateral talks between Russia, the United States and Ukraine will take place in the near future. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told the Izvestia newspaper.
«As for the trilateral meeting, it has been discussed. We hope it will be held in the near future. In this regard, we share the opinion of Jared Kushner,” he said. «As for any new proposals, there are none at the moment. But this is precisely the purpose of the trilateral meeting: to explore new options,” Peskov added.
According to Yuri Ushakov, Putin’s advisor on international affairs, many issues need to be resolved before a trilateral summit, but progress on the territorial issue would make it easier to reach other agreements.
«We need an understanding on what needs to be agreed regarding the territorial question. However, there are many other issues, very many in fact, that still need to be resolved. Nonetheless, if there was progress on the territorial issue, it would probably be easier to move towards further agreements,” Ushakov told Izvestia.
