Starting from 1 November 2024, ITA Airways will restore the morning/evening connection between Reggio Calabria Airport and Milan Linate, thus increasing the daily flights to the Lombardy capital to three. The decision was also welcomed positively by the numerous passengers coming from Messina, who see the offer of connections with the Milanese city expanded.
The times of the new flight
- Reggio Calabria – Milan Linate: departure at 06.15 am, arrival at 07.55 am
- Milan Linate – Reggio Calabria: departure at 9.20pm, arrival at 11.05pm
However, the intensification of flights will put Reggio Calabria airport to the test, especially in the early hours of the morning, when four close departures will be scheduled. Here are the times:
- Venice M. Polo – Ryanair – 06:10
- Milan Linate – ITA Airways – 06:15
- Pisa – Ryanair – 06:20
- Rome Fiumicino – ITA Airways – 06:25
In the evening, the airport will host four aircraft for overnight parking: two from ITA Airways and two from Ryanair, which will occupy all available parking spaces. In this context, the reopening of car park number 5 is urgent, as it is currently unusable due to an accident involving a Fire Brigade helicopter. The restoration works must be completed as soon as possible to ensure optimal operation of the airport.
Cannizzaro (Fi), Calabria increasingly attractive
«Reggio Calabria had never had four night-stop flights, that is to say 4 planes that slept in the Strait airport ready to leave at dawn the following day. But in the Occhiuto era this also happened in Calabria. We therefore express great satisfaction because ITA has decided to invest further in both Reggio and Lamezia, increasing the range of opportunities to and from our region.” This was said by Francesco Cannizzaro, deputy group leader of Forza Italia in the Chamber of Deputies and coordinator of the party in Calabria, speaking in particular on the latest news regarding Calabrian airports: ITA Airways has restored the morning/evening flight to Milan Linate from the airport of Reggio Calabria. «A novelty – he states – that many have wanted for a long time. From next month Reggio will have this additional flight which will increase the daily connections with Milan to 3, a crucial hub for several reasons. The timetables will also allow you to go there and back on the same day, thus responding to the requests of many users. The same applies to Lamezia, where the flight from Linate will arrive at 8.05pm and will depart 45 minutes later. They are ‘inclusions’ that are truly decisive for a certain type of user.” According to Cannizzaro, «after having put Calabria on display in the flag commercial, sponsoring our top places to visit, we are really happy that the Italian airline has decided to further consolidate its presence and investments in our territory. It is the symptom of an increasingly attractive Calabria, increasingly stronger in political-institutional credibility and confidence in the growth of our territory. Therefore – he continues – I strongly thank ITA, all its managers, for believing in us as much as we do and Sacal for the commitment it is putting in to change the Calabrian airport system. All this obviously – he concludes – could only happen thanks to the far-sighted leadership of President Roberto Occhiuto and of a great team, that of Forza Italia and the centre-right, which is working seamlessly for a more dynamic, more efficient and more aware Calabria. of their own means!
