In recent days, an episode of violence has shaken the railway area near the Ricadi station, in the province of Vibo Valentia. It all started with an abusive employment report at an abandoned railway toll booth. From there, the events took an unexpected turn. To start the intervention was the request, by the railway police compartment for Calabria – post by Lamezia Terme railway police – to identify a subject suspected of having illegally occupied the railway building.
Following the report, a Tropea Police permanent patrol went to the place to check the situation. Upon arrival of the agents, the situation immediately took place. The man present inside the toll booth showed hostile from the first moments, refusing to provide documents and reacting with an aggressive attitude. Despite the repeated invitations to calm and collaboration, the subject began to spit against the policemen, threatening them and throwing glass bottles and metal objects against them. Given the danger of the situation, the agents requested reinforcements. When a second crew came to support, a peaceful approach was attempted again. But the man, instead of calm down, He tried to escape in the direction of the tracks, hitting agents with punches and kicks during the escape attempt. One of them was injured. Despite the violence and resistance, the police have managed to block the man and lead him to the police headquarters to identify him.
There, under the coordination of the judicial authority, he was arrested. The accusations of resistance and personal injuries to public officials, insulting, invasion of buildings and refusal to provide their general information is paid by the subject. The arrest was subsequently validated by the court, which ordered his detention in the prison of Vibo Valentia.
