The soldiers of the Aironavale Operational Department of the Guardia di Finanza of Vibo Valentia stopped four Sicilians intent on collecting sea urchins in Capo Vaticano, in the municipality of Ricadi (VV). Fishing is not allowed at night and for quantities over 50 specimens. The military belonging to the divers nucleus of the Vibo Valentia naval station, alerted during the night by the Port Authority, identified two people at sea who tried to escape, while two others were stopped on the shore. A total of 750 sea urchins seized, for a market value of about 1,200 euros, in addition to all the equipment used for illegal activity. Once in Porto in Vibo Valentia, after the ASP opinion, a large part of the curls, still alive, have been rejected at sea, so as to ensure their survival and guarantee the repopulation of the seabed in the area. The managers were sanctioned for a total amount of over 24,000.00 euros, while the equipment useful for illegal activity (cylinders, self -deployers, collection tools, draghers, masks), were seized.
