The Lorica plant is closed due to a fault in the energy company’s electricity network which affected the entire area. The suspension of activities, as clarified by the Ferrovie della Calabria press office, was necessary exclusively for safety reasons and is completely independent of the management of the facilities.
No management problems
The company specified that the closure is not linked to operational or management critical issues, as hypothesized in some reconstructions circulated on social networks. «These statements do not reflect the real situation of the facts – it is explained –: the only cause of the stop is the electricity outage that is still ongoing».
Fallen pylon and work in progress
The blackout was caused by the fall of an electricity pylon, which compromised the supply of energy throughout the area. The operator’s technicians are already working to restore the service, but the problem persists and the plant will also remain closed today, Tuesday 3 February.
Ferrovie della Calabria assures that the plant will return to regular operation as soon as the energy supply is re-established, with the priority of guaranteeing the full safety of users and staff.
