Madame Luna by Daniel Espinosa Premiere at Iffr Rotterdam and in competition at the Goteborg Film Festival

Daniel Espinosa’s new film Madame Luna will be presented as a world premiere at the IFFR – International Film Festival Rotterdam in the Lime Light section on February 1st, in the presence of the director and cast, and followed in official competition at the Göteborg Film Festival on February 2nd. In the cast the very young Meninet Abraha Teferi, Hilyam Weldemichael together with Claudia Potenza, Emanuele Vicorito, Luca Massaro.
Filmed in Calabria and Sicily, inspired by true events, the film tells the incredible story of a young Eritrean woman who, after living for years in Libya and becoming a ruthless human trafficker, is forced to flee and embark on the journey of hope to land as a refugee in Italy where, in a short time, she will know how to assert herself and in order to move forward she will collaborate with local crime, but nothing will ever be the same as before.
Produced by the Swedish company Momento Film with the support of the Swedish Film Institute, with Rhea Films and Hercules Film Fund, it is co-produced for Italy by Dugong Films with the support of the Calabria Film Commission, the Sicilia Film Commission and the Mic Coproduzioni Minoritarie Fund.
