There are seventeen high schools in Sicily that will activate the Made in Italy high school, the new direction of study provided for by law 206 of 27 December 2023 with the aim of developing skills in the field of protection and promotion of Italian excellence in various production sectors, through the in-depth study of the industrial system of our country, as well as legal, economic, technological and foreign language subjects. The regional department of education and professional training has published the list of institutes that will start this innovative educational path from the next school year, 2024-2025. «The activation times of the Made in Italy high school – says the regional councilor for Education, Mimmo Turano – were very tight, yet the Sicilian data seems encouraging and indicative of a great planning capacity and desire for innovation. The potential of Made in Italy is notable and learning to understand it is an important perspective for the future of schools and our young people.” In particular, the public institutes that have joined are three in the Agrigento area; two in Nisseno; three in the Catania area; two in the Messina area (the Sciascia of S. Agata Militello, the Vittorio Emanuele III of Patti) to which must be added a private school, the College of S. Ignazio of Messina; two in the Syracuse area; two in the Trapani area and, finally, one in the province of Palermo and one in Ragusa. The activation of the new high school is subject to the existence of requirements such as the number of students enrolled, the number of teaching staff and the availability of suitable premises. Otherwise, the start of the new educational path will be postponed by one year.
There are eight schools authorized in Calabria to activate Made in Italy. Six schools have decided to maintain the courses of the High School of Human Sciences – economic and social option and replace one course with the new direction. Authorized to activate the new Made in Italy path and maintain the LIS path in the province of Cosenza, the Liceo Statale di Trebisacce, in the province of Reggio Calabria the Liceo Humane Sciences “T.Gullì” and the Liceo “G. Rechichi” of Polistena, in the province of Vibo Valentia the “Vito Capialbi” high school.
For the province of Catanzaro authorized the “Giovanna De Nobili” Institute of Catanzaro, however, activates a Made in Italy section in the “Fiorentino” Classical High School of Lamezia Terme.
