“Safety remains a central theme of the political agenda of the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Matteo Salvini and in the League’s program, and this is demonstrated by the new decree signed at the MIT which provides contributions for small municipalities to be used for the safety of roads, bridges and viaducts. A concrete commitment that has tangible consequences for local communities.”

This is what the transport councilor says Emma Staine regarding the decree containing the terms and methods of disbursement of the contributions referred to in the “Road investment fund in small municipalities for interventions for the safety of sections of roads, bridges and viaducts under the responsibility of local authorities”.

This is the implementing decree of the art. 19 of Legislative Decree 104/2023 which establishes a fund called «Road investment fund in small municipalities», whose resources, equal to 18 million euros for the year 2023, 20 million euros for the year 2024 and 12 million euros for the year 2025, they are intended for the Municipalities for the financing of safety and maintenance interventions on municipal roads. The provision regulates the requirements and methods of access, providing that Municipalities with a population of no more than 5,000 inhabitants can access the Fund, as resulting from the definitive ISTAT population as of 31 December 2021.

I invite the mayors of the small Calabrian municipalities – added Staine – to consult the decree and take action to access the fund in order to be able to plan and use the available resources in the best possible way.reversing the tendency to always intervene in emergencies, because if we start from monitoring and prevention for citizens, safer territories and infrastructures are returned”.

The maximum gross amount of the contribution that can be granted to each beneficiary municipality is 150,000.00 euros for the financing of one or more interventions for the safety and maintenance of municipal roads, including the costs of designing the interventions (where applicable) . The submission of grant applications by each Municipality takes place by sending an electronic application presented to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport – Department for Public Works and Housing Policies, via the dedicated platform accessible at the link: http://stradepiccolicomuni .mit.gov.it and according to the technical methods indicated therein.
