Work to make the city’s road surface safe and restored started again this morning, as announced in recent days by Mayor Franz Caruso. The works, personally supervised by the councilor Pasquale Unknown, are affecting Viale Crati and Viale Busento (SS 107 under municipal jurisdiction) and will continue on Via Scopelliti and Viale Cosmai, on both sides, until the entire urban territory is covered.
This is a new step in a process started in the last four years which has seen the renovation of numerous urban arteries, thanks to the commitment of specialized operators in the sector and the employees of the municipal maintenance cooperative.
The Administration led by Mayor Franz Caruso has launched a new phase of interventions for 2026 in order to improve road safety, urban decorum and the quality of city mobility.
Caruso: roads are our priority
“Road maintenance has always been an absolute priority for our Administration – declares Mayor Franz Caruso – despite the difficulties linked to a failing budget which we are, fortunately, overcoming thanks to prudent and attentive economic/financial management. We are working with planning and responsibility, carrying out important and long-lasting interventions to avoid waste of resources and guarantee quality work for citizens. To this end, on a financial level, we have allocated over 1 million euros for the restoration of the city’s road surface. Among the main arteries already made safe include Via XXIV Maggio, Viale della Repubblica and part of Via Popilia. Not to mention the main arteries of the San Vito and Serra Spiga districts (including via Francesco Cilea) as part of a broader urban regeneration project”.
“The 2025-2027 budget – concludes Franz Caruso – approved at the end of 2025, allows us to guarantee the financial coverage necessary to continue the extraordinary maintenance and urban decoration interventions, another key element of my administration, throughout 2026 with the aim of making the city increasingly safe and functional”.
