The unions are increasingly convinced of this, Calabria is “travelling” towards a new paradox: there is work (or there will be), there is a lack of qualified manpower. After the double investigation published by the “Gazzetta”, Fillea Cgil (also) intervenes on the topic, raising the alarm again: «In the coming months, specialized workers, technicians, engineers, welders, bricklayers, labourers, carpenters, excavators will be needed. And Calabria cannot afford to miss this train due to lack of workforce.”
The breath of fresh air should come from the start of new large infrastructure construction sites which «represents an unprecedented opportunity – underlines the CGIL – to relaunch the construction sector, create stable employment and bring innovation to production processes». Attention is focused above all on State Road 106 with the third megalot 76% complete, the imminent delivery of another 18 km lot, the works that will start in 2026 between Corigliano and Rossano, the sections between Catanzaro and Crotone. And then there is the High Speed railway (or what little has materialized so far) with the doubling of the Santomarco tunnel.
