There are victories that are worth more than a simple trophy. There have successes that become symbols, moments destined to remain impressed in the history of a discipline. And what happened in Frameries (Mons), in Belgium, during one of the most prestigious tournaments of the Fistf Major international circuit, is undoubtedly in this category.
Every year, Frames’ Major recalls the largest world table tables. A tournament that, for prestige and technical level, can be comparable to a real miniature football wimbledon, with the participation of hundreds of athletes from at least 20 nations. Italy, as always, responded with a thick and competitive delegation, a sign of the arreestable strength of the tricolor movement.
But this year, in addition to the many thick results conquered by our bearers, Frameries’s Major told a rather particular story. Marco Avernavery young talent of the Reggio Calabria Subbuteo Club, wrote an indelible page of international table football, dominating the under 12 category with a performance to be framed.
Seven games, seven wins. Twenty -one goals scored, zero conceded. An impressive clear path that ended with a sensational 4-0 in the final inflicted on the Belgian Mathis Goffin, landlord and among the favorites of the eve. An absolute dominion, a demonstration of talent, personality and coldness, which has left everyone speechless, with the young Calabrian athlete who in fact becomes the fourth Italian to have won this prestigious trophy since 1992.
And when a company is so great that the world speak, gestures full of meaning can only give. Carlos Flores, probably the strongest table football player in activity, in charge of European Champion and winner of the tournament in the Open category, has decided to honor the extraordinary test of Averna with a gesture that has excited all those present: he gave him his personal trophy, a symbolic passage of witness between those who today are the best and who could become it in the future not too distant.
A moment that triggered the irrepressible joy of the small Calabrian champion, destined, most likely, to become a symbol for the Italian and international movement. Averna has not only won a tournament. He has shown that talent, sacrifice and passion can break down every border, overcome every obstacle and give unforgettable emotions.
The Italy of table football leaves Frames with a load of enthusiasm and pride, aware that the future is already here. And he has the smiling face of Marco Averna.
