Resignation or administration. This is the diktat that the Lamezia members of the Democratic Party they proposed to the city secretary Gennaro Masiin what was defined as the assembly of reckoning two days ago. A scorching climate, therefore, and not only because of the scorching August temperatures, is flaring up within the internal ranks of a party that, for some time, has been unable to find its right dimension despite the electoral campaign for the 2025 administrative elections having, in fact, already begun. In a note released to the press, the members of the Democratic Party underline that during the assembly «the interventions clearly expressed and in the vast majority, the need for an immediate change in the leadership of the party, while the positions of the secretary appeared clearly in the minority. The majority of the members – it is specified in the document – highlighted the need for the immediate resignation of the city secretary, denouncing a lack of involvement of a significant part of the party and highlighting the inadequacy of the current management».
If Masi does not resign, a direct intervention by the provincial secretary, Domenico Giampà, has been requestedpresent at the meeting, “so that the regional secretariat proceeds with the commissionership of the city club, as a necessary measure to resolve the internal critical issues. This, taking into account that on three occasions and without justification the secretary Masi has rejected the hypothesis of a joint coordination proposed by the Pd Calabria that could overcome the current unsustainable situation that has been dragging on for months”.
