The former CEO of Autostrade per l’Italia was formed, Giovanni Castelluccidefinitively sentenced to six years for the massacre of 28 July 2013, when a bus rushed from the waterproof viaduct, in the Monteforte Irpino area (Avellino), causing the death of 40 people. The accident is considered one of the most serious ever on the Italian road network. Today the prison order issued by the Naples Public Prosecutor’s Office has been notified, confirming what was announced yesterday by his defender, Filippo Donacciaccording to which Castellucci was ready to constitute.
He also spontaneously delivered himself Gennaro Lmettaowner of the bus, also definitively sentenced. “I go to constitute in prison where, for this affair, by the second time as an innocent”, said Lametta, assisted by the lawyers Sergio Pisani and Leopoldo Perone. He reiterated that he had evidence in his favor and wanting to continue fighting to demonstrate the injustice suffered. According to its version, the disaster was caused by thirty years of non -maintenance of New Jersey by Autostrade and by a human error by the workshop mechanics where the vehicle had been brought before the accident.
Yesterday the Court of Cassation, after more than four hours of the Council Chamber, made the sentence of six years for Castellucci definitive. His lawyers, Filippo Donacci e Paola Severinothey defined the “incomprehensible” sentence, reiterating that the former CEO is “totally unrelated to the facts” and has always fulfilled its duties correctly. The fourth criminal section of the Cassation rejected the request of the General Public Prosecutor, who had urged a new trial to re -evaluate the accusation of manslaughter and asked for the acquittal for culpable disaster with the formula “because the fact does not exist”.
