In view of the historic 2025 edition of the Vara, the traditional procession of the Assumption that involves the entire city of Messina every year, the restyling works of the clothes that adorn the votive machine began. Two significant moments have marked the start of this path, in the name of participation, tradition and renewal.
The first took place inside the “Basile” institutewhere the mayor Federico Basile and the councilor for culture Enzo Caruso have officially entrusted to the artistic high school the task of creating the new costumes of the angels placed on the top of the votive wagon. The project will lead the school manager Caterina Celesti, while the students will make their creativity and competence available, contributing concretely to the aesthetic enhancement of Vara. After last year’s mechanical intervention, The 2025 edition will in fact focus on the visual and symbolic componentrenewing the clothes that have accompanied the Marian procession for centuries.
The second moment instead saw the delivery of the Our Lady’s dress assumed to Mrs. Rosa Randazzotown of Messina who has decided to personally take care of the restoration. Present the commissioner Massimiliano Minutoli, together with the technicians of the municipal property maintenance department, the meeting had a strong symbolic value: the gesture of Mrs. Randazzo represents an act of devotion and love for its city, a concrete sign of the active participation of the community in the safeguarding of its spiritual and cultural roots.
