“Matches are won on the field.” Savoia against Reggina on the “signature case” and on the appeals

The Savoia club, having received the notification, takes note of the appeal brought by Reggina against ACR Messina 1900 and comments in a note: “We consider it serious that an attempt is being made to transform, in the halls of sports justice, what has not been obtained on the field. There is a substantial difference between the report presented by Savoia and Nissa on the occasion of the affair relating to the disqualified footballer and the appeal brought today by Reggina. In the first case, a direct and specific responsibility of the club involved was contested, without artificially altering the entire balance of the championship; today, however, an attempt is being made to target a subsequently taken over club, which has taken over the sporting title through a procedure authorized and supervised by the competent bodies.

We are talking about entrepreneurs who have invested resources, assumed responsibilities and safeguarded the football continuity of a historic place like Messina, acquiring the club through a transparent and legitimate process, certainly not “on the street”.

For this reason we believe the appeal promoted by Reggina is profoundly contrary to the sporting spirit and the principles of loyalty that should characterize football. Matches are won on the pitch. The rankings are built over an entire season, without looking for shortcuts once the championship is over. We have full faith in the sports justice bodies and we are certain that late and instrumental attempts to alter the balance of Group I will be rejected. Our respect remains total towards the city of Reggio Calabria and its extraordinary fans, who deserve representation worthy of their sporting history.

However, we feel like giving one last suggestion – we read in the note – rather than investing energy and resources in late and instrumental appeals, perhaps it would be more useful to concentrate on building a serious and competitive sporting project, capable of giving back to the city of Reggio Calabria and its fans the footballing dignity they deserve”.
