Twelve apartments have been assigned to Mazzarrà Sant’Andrea as part of the Temporary Social Housing project, intended for families and citizens in conditions of social fragility who meet the requirements set out in the public tender.
The homes, completely renovated and furnished in an essential but elegant way, are located in Via Vittorio Emanuele, Via Pace and Via Vittoria. The assignment, which lasts six months, is aimed at individuals, small groups or families followed by the Professional Social Service and characterized by complex problems.
The aim of the project is to promote paths of personal growth and autonomy through the support of a dedicated multidisciplinary team, coordinated by the head of the Social Office area, Giuseppe Giannone and composed of:
Marika Chillemi – Educator
Virginia Abramo – Educator
Carmelo Barresi – Educator
Ivana Leonti – Psychologist
The project, probably unique in the province of Messina and among the first in Sicily, was carried out by the Municipality of Mazzarrà Sant’Andrea thanks to participation in the public notice financed by the PNRR – Next Generation EU.
“I am happy that this project has finally started. We have always believed in it and have worked with determination to make it possible – declares the Mayor Carmelo Pietrafitta – This is concrete help to the most vulnerable sections of the population, a first response to the housing emergency and an important step towards a more civil and responsible society. I firmly believe that the task of politics is to work for people, listening and responding to their needs. This project represents hope for those who are going through a difficult time and, for me, it is certainly one of the most significant goals achieved in these years of administrative activity.”
