The funds that the Sicilian Region has allocated to the cities of Palermo, Messina and Catania for the construction of strategic works for mobility, infrastructure safety and the valorisation of urban and cultural heritage amount to a total of 50 million euros.
The definitive ranking of the “A” quota has been published, of a broader notice from the regional Infrastructure Department based on the 2021-2027 FSC resources, intended for the capital municipalities of metropolitan cities intended to finance various regeneration and development interventions in urban centres.
In Palermo, the safety measures and extraordinary maintenance of the Corleone bridge will be financed with 9 million euros, the redevelopment of the marina area of the Acquasanta village with 3.2 million and the completion of the restoration of the Teatro Massimo for 4 million euros.
In Messina, two loans are assigned for a total of 16.6 million equally divided between the same number of regeneration, accessibility and development interventions of the urban centre: the first concerns areas 1 and 2, the second concerns 3 and 4.
The projects in the ranking for Catania are the extraordinary maintenance and modernization of urban road axes with 3.8 million, the modernization of the waterfront road axis between Piazza Alcalà and Europa for 5.7 million and the resurfacing of the road surface on various city streets for 7 million euros.
The funding concerns the first projects placed in the ranking, respecting the overall budget foreseen and within the maximum limit of 40 percent for each Municipality. The Infrastructure Department, meanwhile, continues to carry out the verification and evaluation activities of the proposals relating to the other funding quotas (B, C, D, E and F) of the notice, to ensure rapid implementation of the entire program.
