«It is the desire of the municipal administration to intervene to economically support the commercial activities damaged» by cyclone Harry. Mayor Basile had announced it on Monday in the Budget Committee, explaining that a path had also been imagined together with the president of the city council, Nello Pergolizzi. Yesterday evening, therefore, the provision was approved by the Council, with which “a policy of suspension and exemption of municipal taxes and tariffs – Tari, Imu and water tariffs – is implemented, which will be defined with a specific policy resolution”. “An economic aid plan will also be prepared, aimed at allowing the affected businesses to restart their operations and, at the same time, to guarantee concrete support to the owners of the commercial establishments and their families”. To make these steps possible, the Council has given a mandate to the offices to proceed «with the quantification of the damages suffered, with the definition of the economic compensation, with the planning of the necessary resources, already identified as 500,000 euros». Basile says it clearly: «It is not just an administrative act, but a clear political choice: to be on the side of those who work, produce and keep our city alive».
