Filming of the film Don Chiosciotte will take place on Friday 20 and Saturday 21 December in Messina. Two Messina actors have been selected: Mauro Failla, in the role of the doctor, and Davide Colnaghi, in that of a porter. To communicate this this morning, in the presence of the mayor Federico Basile and the councilor for cultural policies Enzo Caruso, the director of the film Fabio Segatoriwho directly followed the auditions of over two hundred actors yesterday in the city.
“I thank director Segatori – underlined Mayor Basile – for choosing Messina for the filming of his film. We talked about it two and a half years ago during the landing phases of Don Giovanni of Austria and he was pleasantly impressed by those scenes , thinking of re-proposing the literary masterpiece of Miguel de Cervantes who was admitted to the civic hospital in Messina due to some serious wounds received in the battle of Lepanto in 1571. Moments like these become instrument of aggregation, inclusion, culture and sharing, as well as giving positive feedback to our city from a social, tourist and economic point of view”.
Councilor Caruso linked to Mayor Basile’s statements, explaining that “the film shoots from Forts Gonzaga and San Salvatore will have a good return on the image of Messina over timeenhancing our beauties, also in terms of presence and appreciation of the territory”.
During the press conference, a presentation clip was viewed, with previews of the filming locations in Messina and the actor Alessio Boni in the role of the protagonist Don Quixote. The film was also shot in CalabriaBasilicata and other regions. Director Segatori, in thanking the municipal administration for the attention shown, highlighted that “the city is responding well with the associations that have provided period costumes, equipment and historic carriages. The film will be screened at the cinema and subsequently broadcast on Rai channels”.
