An alleged Bellico bomb was identified in the waters in front of the area of the Viale Annunziata in Messina, about 160 meters from the coast. The object, whose nature is still being investigated, has been reported to the LAT coordinates. 38 ° 12.9850698 n – Long. 015 ° 34.1837786 E. Following the discovery, the maritime authorities issued an urgent order to ensure the safety of navigation and public safety.
The provision, in force with immediate effect, prohibits the following activities from 100 meters from the position of the Ordigno:
-BALLNATION
-Navigation and stop of boats
-Fishing
-underwater and deporte activity
The boats in transit nearby will have to pay particular attention and take all the necessary measures to avoid dangerous situations.
Exemptions and penalties
Only the naval units of the Coast Guard, the Police Forces and the military units engaged in the verification and remediation operations are excluded. Anyone who does not respect the ordinance will be subject to penalties pursuant to articles 1164 and 1231 of the navigation code and, in the case of a pleasure craft, based on art. 53 of Legislative Decree no. 171/2005.
The assessment and remediation operations will continue in the next few hours, and the authorities invite citizenship to strictly respect the ban to avoid possible accidents.
