An evening of inconvenience at the Cavallotti car park, where a long queue of cars blocked along the exit ramp formed around 7.30pm. The level crossing was not working, preventing vehicles from leaving the area. To make the situation worse, the lack of response from the ATM assistance service, which can be activated via the column located near the exit, and the company’s telephone numbers. Attempts to contact the Municipal Police also proved futile.

After several minutes of waiting and without any external intervention, motorists had to reverse down the narrow parking ramps, in a complicated and risky maneuver. Only when the first car managed to reach the first floor, the situation began to unblock: some cars were allowed to pass and, suddenly, the level crossing started working again. Parking users complain about the lack of support from the authorities and the ATM: “Despite the high costs of parking and subscriptions, we were left to fend for ourselves,” a reader tells Gazzetta del Sud online.

The president of ATM, Carla Grillo, explained that the interruption was caused by a short circuit in the system: “We intervened in less than 20 minutes. The system has been restored, but as a mere precaution we are keeping the bars raised temporarily,” Grillo specified.
