A nineteen-year-old from Messina was arrested last night after a long chase that began in the southern area of the city and ended in the Boccetta district. The boy will have to answer for resisting and injuring a public official.
The escape on the state road and on the motorway
It all started when a patrol noticed a young man driving a car who, seeing the presence of the officers, ran away ignoring the warning. The car traveled along State Road 114 at very high speed, carrying out dangerous maneuvers for passing cars.
The fugitive then took the A20 motorway, reaching the Boccetta junction to return to the city, continuing to run through traffic.
Moments of fear in the centre
The chase continued to the area of Piazza Cristo Re, where at that time there were many people on foot. Several passers-by managed to move onto the pavement at the last moment, avoiding the car launched at high speed.
The race ended shortly after, when the nineteen-year-old lost control of the vehicle and crashed into two cars parked near Viale Principe Umberto.
The arrest and discovery of marijuana
Once stopped, the young man continued to resist the operations, even hitting one of the officers in the face, who received a seven-day prognosis.
During the search, the boy was found in possession of approximately 3 grams of marijuana and was reported to the Prefecture.
