Messina gives itself a birthday present (today marks 124 years since its foundation) and wins away after nine months, the previous one having been in Brindisi, beating Turris 2-1 in the first of the three direct clashes scheduled up to the round of buoy. After going behind in the score, lModica’s team overturned it in three minutes from 22nd to 25th of the first half, with Cocetta’s own goal and Anatriello’s splendid goal. And in the end he also has to thank Krapikas who neutralized a penalty from Example.

In Messina, without Ortisi and Mamona injured, Lia, returning from suspension, Morleo and Petrucci return from the first minute. At 6′ Turris takes the lead. Scaccabarozzi crosses for Ekuban who heads Krapikas, the ball stays there and for Casarini the tap-in is child’s play. Messina did not falter and equalized in the 22nd minute. Petrungaro works on the left and puts in a strong cross, Cocetta impacts and makes it 1-1 with the most classic of own goals. Three minutes later, Messina gets into the fast lane. On the free kick from the edge Anatriello sends the ball into the top corner. For the Neapolitan attacker it is the sixth center in the league. Biaconscudati are still dangerous on the counterattack but Frisenna’s shot is blocked. In the 34th minute Turris threatens from a corner but Messina saves themselves. At the end of the half, a mild attempt by Pedicillo from the edge, an easy save by Marcone.

In the second half, Turris tried to recover the deficit but Messina remained substantially in control and in fact came close to securing the goal several times with new substitute Garofalo who challenged Marcone from outside, with Anatriello finishing just over the crossbar. At 31′ Garofalo again raises from an excellent position. Turris, shortly afterwards, gets a penalty for a handball detected in the wall after a free kick. The Lithuanian goalkeeper Krapikas, however, saved everything and neutralized the conclusion of Examples. Then Turris is left with ten men due to Cocetta’s double yellow and tries in vain from outside with Castellano. Messina pulls together and takes home the three points. The leap in the rankings may be a good omen in view of theimminent entry into the AAD Invest Group company which should have 80% of the shares by mid-week.
